Squamish RCMP is notifying the public to be aware that the speed limit in schools zones is 30 km/h, following a large number of infractions noted by the police recently.
Police are reminding the public that the speed limit in school zones is 30 km/h. If you are found to be speeding in a school zone, you could face a fine up to $253 and 3 demerit points off your licence. Failing to stop for a school bus carried a fine of $368. Squamish RCMP continues to receive complaints about speeding in school zones on a weekly basis.
On Wednesday, January 31st, Squamish RCMP also arrested a Squamish man for being in possession of drugs. He received a 24 hour driving suspension, his vehicle was impounded, and he was arrested for allegedly being in possession of drugs. The man was released on scene with a court date in the next few months.
On Friday, February 2nd, Squamish RCMP also responded to a complaint of a stolen van taken from a parking lot in Valleycliffe. The van was described as a dark grey 2001 GMC Safari Van with BC Licence Plate AM098D. If anyone has any information to the whereabouts of the van, please contact the Squamish RCMP.
