Vancouver Coastal Health organised a brunch at Hilltop House to recognize staff with five or more years with VCH, including Sea-to-Sky manager, Meghan Thompson.
Senior VCH official, Karin Olson, recognized and thanked staff for their dedication and commitment to working with patients and team members.
Olson said many of them work in the community where they live, giving them a unique perspective – delivering care to their friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Olson also shared the comments below about staff at the event celebrating their service to the community:
Julie Falconer first started in 1993 and worked for Coast Garibaldi Health, which is now VCH. She started part-time as a health unit aide and audiometric technician, but is now primarily an audiometric technician.
She enjoys the outdoors and hikes when she can with her office mate Carole.
Colleagues of Donna Jones describes her as a very caring and dedicated community health worker who has worked with home support for 25 years.
She is a strong advocate for the clients and has a client specific care method.
Many of clients enjoy having Donna during the home support visits. She takes the time to get to know her clients and their care plans.
She does not rush and gives clients the time they need and she promotes their independence as much as possible.
