The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is warning people about traffic disruptions and delays as work takes place on Village Gate Boulevard at Highway 99.
Crews are replacing a manhole on Village Gate Blvd at the highway intersection, and traffic disruptions can be expected between Highway 99 and Northlands Boulevard from June 1 to 26.
The overnight work to replace a manhole on Village Gate Boulevard began on May 25, and daytime construction work on sewer upgrade takes place between June 1 and June 26, between 8 am and 8 pm.
RMOW is recommending a vehicle detour via Lorimer Road during this time for those going to Whistler Village.
“Expect traffic disruptions and transit delays on Village Gate Boulevard between Highway 99 and Northlands Boulevard. Two-way traffic will be maintained, but will be diverted to one side of Village Gate Boulevard,” RMOW said.
RMOW will post signs in the affected areas, and flag persons will be on site to manage traffic flow.
Meanwhile, pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to walk around the work areas marked by traffic cones while maintaining physical distance from workers and other trail users, RMOW said.
