Squamish RCMP are investigating after books and other items that were set on fire in a Downtown Squamish back alley.
Last week, Squamish RCMP received report of a pile of books that were found smoldering in the back alley in the 38000 block of Second Avenue.
This is the second such report of things being set on fire in alley this month. Previously, police have responded to complaints of items being set on fire at the same spot.
Effective noon tomorrow, most open burning activities will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, which includes Squamish. However, this prohibition does not apply to campfires that are a half-metre high by a half-metre wide or smaller, or to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
