A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with a fire truck on Stanley Park Causeway in Vancouver.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services was responding to a call at approximately 12:45 p.m. today, travelling north on the causeway toward Stanley Park Drive, when the collision occurred. Investigators believe the motorcyclist was travelling in the opposite direction when he collided with another vehicle and was then struck by the oncoming fire truck.
The motorcyclist died at the collision scene. Officers from VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit ask witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video to call 604-717-3012. In a statement, Vancouver Fire Rescue said a full investigation will occur to determine the incident’s circumstances.
“We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as an investigation occurs. Further updates will be provided at the appropriate time.”
“Our crews respond to other people’s emergencies every day in this city, to be involved in such a tragic incident while responding is heartbreaking,” said Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Chief Karen Fry. “Our hearts go out to the friends and family of the motorcyclist and all those involved.”
