Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the Howe Sound, with heavy rain forecasted for the region. The rainfall warning includes Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley and is effective tonight and Saturday. Rainfall totals could reach near 50 mm.
A low-pressure system off the Oregon Coast will move inland today and track across southern British Columbia tonight. The heavy rain will begin this evening and is expected to taper to showers on Saturday.
Authorities have warned that heavy downpours could lead to flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to be cautious and watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and ditches.
Environment Canada also urges the public to stay updated on alerts and forecasts and report severe weather by email or via Twitter using #BCStorm.
