Vancouver area experienced a mild earthquake today, measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale. The quake’s epicentre was 21 kilometres west of Tsawwassen, approximately 29 kilometres southwest of Vancouver.

According to Earthquake Canada, the tremor was lightly felt across the Vancouver and Victoria areas, though there have been no reports of damage, and none are expected.
Earthquake Canada is asking residents who experienced the quake to fill out a questionnaire to aid their research. This is the second earthquake to shake the region in less than a week. Last Thursday, a tremor with its epicentre 18 kilometers northwest of Victoria rattled the area.
Officials are reminding the public to follow earthquake safety protocols, advising people to “drop, cover, and hold on” in the event of further seismic activity.
While earthquakes cannot be predicted, the Canadian Earthquake Early Warning system can provide a brief warning, from seconds to tens of seconds, by detecting seismic events immediately after they occur.
