Squamish Community Christmas Care’s motto is “community caring for community by filling hampers with gifts, food and love in the Spirit of Christmas.”
For over 40 years, Community Christmas Care has done just that, helping to provide hampers of food, toys and other good things for those in our community who need a hand around the holidays. Recipients include seniors, couples and families with children. Last year, we gathered, packed and delivered around 400 hampers that benefitted over a thousand individuals in our area.
As the chair of Christmas Care, it is an honour to be able to be a part of this beautiful act of ‘community caring for the community’, and witness how much of Squamish gives and gets involved in a myriad of ways. Seeing the love, generosity and care in this place is humbling.
This year’s hamper program is well underway, and applications are now available for those who need a hamper. The deadline for applications is Friday, November 15. Application forms can be picked up and dropped off at most Squamish churches, PearlSpace, Under One Roof, Sea to Sky Community Services, and more. The application form is also available on our website, which can be downloaded, printed, filled out, and handed in. Please contact our team if you have any trouble accessing, filling out or submitting an application. squamishchristmas@gmail.com.
Help us spread the word
Community Christmas Care is spearheaded by a small, dedicated group of individuals with huge hearts, incredible passion and skills who will put in countless hours before the last hamper is delivered. However, we couldn’t do it without all of you. For those who would like to support this year’s work, we are beginning to accept donations, register volunteers, and connect with organizations and businesses that would like to be involved in various ways.
You can find more information on our website or by contacting us. We are particularly excited about this year’s Battle of the Businesses which is just around the corner, coming up in November, when so many amazing Squamish businesses fundraise for Christmas Care.
