Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for parts of Metro Vancouver.
Strong winds are expected to hit Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island coastal areas overnight into early Saturday morning, with gusts reaching up to 90 km/h, Environment Canada warns. The affected regions include Metro Vancouver’s southwest and southeast areas, Greater Victoria, the Southern Gulf Islands, and East Vancouver Island from Nanoose Bay to Campbell River.
The weather agency cautions that these high winds could cause tree branches to break, posing a risk of power outages. The strongest gusts are anticipated to begin around midnight, lasting until early Saturday morning, particularly impacting exposed coastal locations. Metro Vancouver may see the most significant impact near Boundary Bay.
Environment Canada advises residents to stay informed by following their alerts and forecasts. Severe weather can be reported via email at BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or on social media using the hashtag #BCStorm.
