Tourism Squamish, in collaboration with the BC Film Commission at Creative BC, Screen BC, and five other municipal Destination Marketing Organizations, has launched Cineventure, an innovative digital film tourism platform.
Through interactive routes and itineraries, Cineventure allows visitors to explore iconic filming locations across Greater Vancouver. Fans can step into the worlds of Riverdale, Twilight, When Calls the Heart, Happy Gilmore, Virgin River, and more, showcasing the region’s stunning versatility as a film and television production hub.
This collaboration is the first major partnership between B.C.’s thriving tourism and film industries. In 2022, the tourism sector generated $18.5 billion in revenue, while the film and television industry contributed $5.4 billion to the province’s GDP in 2021/22.
“British Columbia has earned its place as North America’s fourth-largest production hub,” said Marnie Gee, B.C. Film Commissioner. “Cineventure allows us to showcase this legacy in an entirely new way, bridging the gap between our creative and tourism sectors. Visitors aren’t just walking in the footsteps of their favorite characters — they’re experiencing firsthand why our province has become a favorite among filmmakers worldwide. This platform celebrates our film industry while fostering sustainable tourism that benefits communities across B.C.”
