The District of Squamish is conducting a Citizen Satisfaction Survey (CSS) that will be mailed to a random sample of households to obtain a statistically valid representation of community priorities in Squamish.
In a press release, the District said the survey’s results will help inform service priorities, strategic planning and budgeting decisions. A survey package has been mailed to a random sample of residential addresses to generate statistically valid results from residents across Squamish neighbourhoods.
An online version of the survey is open to all residents at letstalksquamish.ca/citizen-satisfaction-survey. The data from the open online survey will be presented separately from the sample and compared for similarities and differences.
“Understanding how community values, perceptions and wants might change is essential to deliver quality municipal services, programs and projects,” says Mayor Armand Hurford. “We’re looking forward to hearing from a random sample of residents to learn from voices we don’t always hear from. Participating in this survey will help your District team improve decision-making, advocate to other levels of government and respond to the evolving needs of residents.”
Two options to participate:
For randomly selected residents who received a survey package in the mail, complete the paper survey and return it using the postage-paid envelope. Alternatively, complete the survey online using a unique ID and QR code at the bottom of the survey.
Residents who did not receive a survey package can complete the online survey at letstalksquamish.ca/citizen-satisfaction-survey.
The survey will help to establish a benchmark so the district can understand its progress and how it compares to other cities, towns, and municipalities of similar size. The District said it plans to conduct surveys periodically to generate comparable data.
The survey themes include overall quality of life and wellness, important community issues, District services, communications and public engagement, environment and sustainability, community priorities, and value for tax dollars. The survey is open through May 12, and the survey results will be presented to Council in late June.
